(November
18, 1937 - September 4, 2013)
Boyd
Lutz- Nova Scotia has lost so many heroes recently.... Ada Pleasant, Art Pope,
Elsie Lane, Rita MacNeil, Rocky Jones, Walter Newton and one of the best of the
best people on this good Canadian earth... Boyd Lutz...
you
know ... how in every community, there's that one family that just
inspires....good natured, kind, generous.... the folks that kids and animals
love and trust immediately.... because only kids and animals are blessed with
God's true innocence and trust and grace
and pure goodness...imho
Boyd
Lutz did so much with our Catholic community.... school, town events,
fundraisers, suppers, guiding, sports,- he never met a kid he didn't love- and no volunteer job was beneath him- did enough kitchen duty over the years to attest 2 that folks; scouting, teaching, inspiring.... and dependable as a Canadian Maple and
gentle in nature....
It
took so long 2 put the words down here 2day... because tears and prayers just
cannot fill the void that this great and good man leaves behind.... I remember
losing loved ones and his gentle and humble ways of easing our burdens ....
always... from kids to grannies.... there was a gentle elegance... as though
God was right there holding on 2 us.... and letting us know with confidence
that our loved ones are with God waitin on us.....
...
Mr. Lutz... I know of no other way 2 honour u.... but thank u for so many of
the good memories when I look back over the years.... 2 beloved Florence....
the superstar of Queen Annapolisa when I was with the Kentville Jaycettes with
Joy Waterbury, Pam Ells, Judy Bently, Edna (the grls of the Kentville Jaycettes) and all the gang... all the fundraisers,
church gatherings, and beloved daughter Kimberly- her Lector readings and pure voice
made the Sunday readings beautiful, raw and righteous- and Kimberly always stepped up as Catechist when needed - and her dress shop,
Kimberley's Touch of Class, will always only be second only 2 Chase's and the
old town ways.... Love u Forence and Kimberly and please know u are so loved. Hugs and love Boyd Lutz....God's surely got another great warrior from the Province of Nova Scotia. tears and prayers.
...
and please know this ... u were truly loved and always will be.... thank God 4
you and the every day folks who ensure everyday people are truly the heart of
our communities. Peace of Christ
The
unsung heroes.... Boyd Laverne Lutz
“A
WELL KNOWN VALLEY BUSINESS MAN HAS PASSED AWAY”
Lutz,
Boyd Laverne – age 75 years of Kentville, passed away peacefully surrounded by
his loving family on September 4, 2013 at the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in
Berwick on November 18, 1937; he was the son of the late Brent and Evelyn
(Arnold) Lutz. Boyd worked for Colgate Palmolive before finding his passion in
the funeral service industry in 1959. He spent many years working as a licensed
funeral director and embalmer and with H.C. Lindsay Funeral Homes and Ambulance
Services having chapels in Kentville, Berwick, Wolfville and New Ross. He
became business partner in 1970 and sole owner in 1983. There have been many
NSCC Kingstec students enrolled in the funeral services program that have
benefited from Boyd’s positive, kind and generous nature, while providing
practical training and experience to further their own careers in the funeral
industry. The dedication and care shown to the families he served was truly
genuine and in 2005 he semi retired from the business but remained active
within the company. Boyd’s greatest strength was his generosity and his ability
to help others through difficult times. His caring and kind heart has touched
many people in their time of need. Other than his career, Boyd was actively
involved in supporting minor ball and hockey throughout Kings Co. In his
younger years, Boyd was an outstanding and well known local Berwick hockey
player, earning an invitation to the Montreal Junior Canadiens training camp.
Later in life he followed his passions with affiliations to the Montreal
Canadiens, Quebec Nordiques, Nova Scotia Voyageurs and the Halifax Citadels. He
was co-founder of the Valley Summer Hockey School and owner of the Valley
Select Senior Hockey Club. Boyd’s varied interests also included minor
baseball, scouting for the New York Mets, and in the early 1990’s becoming
co-owner of the Halifax Windjammers franchise of the World Basketball League.
Left with fond and loving memories are his dedicated and supporting wife of 53
years, Florence; children Kim Lutz (Harold Fisher), Karen Atwater (Derek) and
Kevin Lutz all of Kentville; adored grandchildren Jeremy (Danielle) Neaves,
Brett and Brady Atwater, Spencer and Morgan Lutz; brother Otis (JoEllen) Lutz
of Welsford; also by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers
Reg, Cecil and Lorimer. Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 7,
2013 from 7-9pm at the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick Chapel; from where
